Great beaches, great prices

Fancy going topless on the beaches in St. Barts but couldn’t land a second mortgage? Try booking now. The Caribbean is having its annual pre-Christmas sale that translates into free nights, comp dinners and spa specials.

On Nevis, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club is described by TripAdvisor as “the very best luxury hotel in Latin America and the Caribbean.” With 36 rooms spread across 30 lush acres, save up to 16 per cent before Dec. 19, 2008.

Parrot Cay is a 1,000-acre getaway in the Turks and Caicos; its Shambhala Retreat spa is a study in serenity with yoga, holistic therapies and healing activities. Get seven nights for the cost of five, or three for two.

Kick back at Jamaica’s Ritz-Carlton, Rose Hall, for as little as $249 a night compared with $459 for the same room in mid-March.

At the sumptuous Malliouhana Hotel and Spa on Anguilla, rooms are now selling for half of what they cost during peak winter season. Until mid-November, Cap Juluca, another high-end Anguilla resort, offers rates beginning at $400 a night compared with $825 in the winter.

Considering all-inclusives? Scan discounted trips at exitnow.ca, where a week in Havana may start as low as $453 (including room, meals and airfare from Toronto).

As for St. Barts, you may want to have another go at that second mortgage.

Are these destinations still out of your budget? Read on to see how you can travel for free!
