Let the winter games begin

For those of us who don't plan ahead, attending the winter Olympics from February 12-28 may suddenly seem like an interesting idea. Don't fret that all the tickets have been sold and nary a hotel bed is to be found: For latecomers there's one last chance.

Any day now, the third and final phase of advance tickets sales will kick off. For some reason, the powers-that-be are keeping the date a secret until the last minute. Never mind: Keep your eyes peeled and head here to periodically check if sales have commenced.

Bear in mind that when Phase Two launched the morning of June 6th, more than 22,000 orders for 130,000 tickets were processed in the first four hours. Additionally, sales have generally exceeded expectations with initial response 4.5 times greater than it was during ticketing sales for the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games. So don't procrastinate too much longer!

Onsite sales

Should you make it to the games and still be hunting for tickets, on the first day of competition for any of the 86 different sports events, any remaining tickets will be made available through on-site Olympic box offices at the venue.

(Caveat Emptor: Those seeking tickets should be cautious of any offered for sale through unofficial channels, says the Organizing Committee. The only official sources for Canadians to purchase tickets to the 2010 Winter Games are www.vancouver2010.com and partners Jet Set Sports and CoSport.)

Now that you've managed to pocket tickets, you'll need a place to lay your games-weary head.
