Taking care of your skin

Postby debleep on Tue Oct 07, 2008 1:07 pm

Despite feeling young, it's become more and more evident recently that my skin doesn't share the same sentiment. My wrinkles are becoming more prominent (slight, but noticeable to me), and I could stand to tighten the skin around my cheeks and neck. I don't want to resort to plastic surgery, though.

What is everyone else doing to take care of their skin? Any good products you can recommend? I'm pretty open to trying new things.

Thanks everyone!

I know exactly how you feel! Sometimes I feel like resorting to plastic surgery but thankfully, I cannot afford it. I am 48 years old and have had several compliments that I don't look my age and I think ( and this is only my humble opinion) it is because of my routine. I always remember to wash my face in the evening, no matter how tired I am. I use "Nux" cleansing lotion with a warm to hottish facecloth, firstly just remove all the city grime and any makeup I may have used that day. I then rinse about five times with warm water and then gently dab my face dry. I then apply a face cream from Lush called "Skin Nanny" which I find is just rich enough but not enough to clog my pores, to my face and neck. You only need a dab because it goes a long way!

In the a.m. I only rinse my face with warm water (sometimes, I also use a facecloth) and then apply my daytime moisture that has an SPF of 15. Garnier and Lush (sorry I'm not trying to push product - I don't work for them) have great ones. Lush's is called "Paradise Regained" - this is what I use. I am also hoping to give Burt's Bees Radiance serum a try somewhere down the line. Another great product to try is Benefits "That Gal" which is part primer, part radiance and can be used under foundation or alone. This really perks up my skin and it makes it look like I have had about 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep!

While we cannot do anything about the firmness without resorting to surgery or costly temporary creams, keeping our faces their healthiest and most radiant also helps us look young.

Cleansing and moisturizing your skin twice a day is the most important thing. I also think it is good to stick to one line of products, since they are usually made to work together. I use Lara Beauty. Their cleanser is very gentle and also removes makeup. The Moisturizer is non greasy and has made a dramatic improvement in reducing my wrinkles and also in the general appearance of my skin.

I hear you on this! When I hit 40 my skin seemed to lose the tone and texture I had way back before my first son. I've a huge proponent of taking care of my skin from the inside out and have been very successful with the addition of fish oils and a nutricosmetic called Ageoff.

I actually received a nice little youth re-activation lifestyle manual with AgeOff that goes over the keys to healthy skin including; commitment to a healthy lifestyle, DNA repair at the cellular level, Regular exercise, proper nutrition encompassing whole foods and, most importantly, proper amount of quality sleep.

I think exercise and eating well have made the most significant difference in getting skin tone and health back to the way it looked and felt in my mid 30's. However, I'm open minded to nutritional supplements that nourish the skin from the inside and I'm really happy with Fish oils and Ageoff. After all, we are what we eat and plants have the nutrients us woman need to look 30 forever! :)
