Women who regularly get their hair done at a salon know the importance of loyalty. You develop a relationship with your favourite stylist based on trust, respect and a mutual love of gossiping about celebrities while under the foil. Thus, the idea of seeing someone else is tantamount to hair treason.
However, the rise of “blow dry bar” style salons, (which have popped up in New York, London, Vancouver and now Toronto), have made it perfectly acceptable to see other stylists for quick, low-commitment services like blow outs.
I recently popped into Ritual 2 on King Street West in downtown Toronto to try out their Blow & Go Bar.
After selecting a style from their flip-book cum hair menu, we were off. While chatting to my stylist, Robyn, I discovered that on busy days she can roll through as many as 9 clients - that’s some serious bicep strength.
I barely had enough time to finish my latte before my hair was blown out to bouncy, waved perfection and I was flouncing down the street looking like… well, like I just stepped out of a salon.
Last minute appointments are no problem, prices are affordable and service is fast (you’re in and out the door in under an hour.) Great hair, with no guilt? I’m sold.
The Blow & Go Bar prices are $30 for a blow out and there’s a Valentine’s Day special on until the end of February: buy 5 blow outs, get 1 free - for $150, including taxes.

sorry….I’m from Belleville, Ms. Craft knows where that is……….and I have no idea what a “blow out” is or what it entails. Could you explain a little further!!!Is it just a quick wash and blow dry with no cutting involved???
